30th July 2012: The launch of MeteoGroup Singapore signals a significant expansion in Southeast Asia for Europe’s leading independent weather company.
MeteoGroup Singapore will initially focus on providing weather products and services to the Southeast Asian shipping and offshore markets. MeteoGroup has provided market-leading marine weather services to this market for many years and the opening of an office in Singapore will enable the company to provide an enhanced level of service to existing customers and to expand its business in the territory.
Singapore is home to one of the busiest trans-shipment and container ports in the world and is a key location for the offshore and shipping industries. MeteoGroup provides world-class weather and oceanographic services to these global markets with existing operations in Europe, the US, the Far East and the Middle East. MeteoGroup Singapore will offer a full portfolio of marine services for ship routing optimisation, ship performance analysis, fleet management and offshore operations. Products supplied by MeteoGroup Singapore include Nowcasting Pro, MeteoGroup’s proprietary operational planning tool for delivering high resolution metocean forecast services, RouteGuard for route optimisation and performance analysis and SPOS (Ship Performance Optimisation System), the world's leading onboard weather routing system, currently installed on several thousand vessels.
Peter Stoter, Director of Marine Services at MeteoGroup commented: “Singapore is the ideal hub for servicing customers in Southeast Asia and, with strong growth in the Singaporean shipping industry, it’s an opportune time for MeteoGroup’s expansion into this market. MeteoGroup believes a local presence is essential for providing the best possible service so we’re excited to be opening an office in this key maritime location.”
