6th February 2012: ITN has awarded MeteoGroup the contract for supplying weather data, software and meteorological support for the new Channel 4 News online and broadcast weather services.  Channel 4 News launched its new weather services at the end of 2011, following the appointment of the channel’s first weather presenter, Liam Dutton.

MeteoGroup was awarded the contract after a competitive evaluation process and worked closely with Channel 4 News to develop the new online and television weather services.  MeteoGroup’s proprietary software packages, developed by in-house broadcast division MeteoGraphics, have been customised for Channel 4 News’ requirements.  The sophisticated graphics system allows the Channel 4 Weather presenter total flexibility to produce unique weather shows with stunning 2D and 3D graphics, reflecting the innovative style of the channel.

In addition to the graphics solution, MeteoGroup supplies Channel 4 News with meteorological data for global and UK city forecasts for both the broadcast and online weather.  MeteoGroup’s forecast team is on hand round the clock for consultancy and support and delivers daily forecast briefings to Channel 4 News.
