26th September 2012: WeatherPro for iPad 2.7 introduces a number of new features, including weather alerts, one of the most requested features in feedback from WeatherPro customers.  The alerts appear on the forecast screen if extreme weather is forecast at any point in the next three days.

High customer demand led to the development of the weather alerts feature which highlights when extreme weather, such as high winds, heavy rain or low/high temperatures, is forecast in the next three days. The alert appears on the forecast screen and is colour coded to represent low, medium and high warnings.  An easy to read graph and explanation provides additional detail.

MeteoGroup continues to develop the alert system and more advanced features, including a push service for the warnings, are expected in the coming months.

WeatherPro for iPad has been given a face-lift in the latest release with new weather symbols providing a fresh look and feel.  Also in this update is the addition of an icon badge in the “More” section which lets the user know when there’s a new weather story available.

Since the last update, MeteoGroup added lightning data to the high resolution weather maps.  The new map layer, which can only be accessed by Premium subscribers, provides an overview of the recent storm situation in Europe using lightning detection data.  It was added between releases so that subscribers could make the most of the feature during the summer storms that took place at the end of July.
