Today (Wednesday): Low cloud and any drizzle in central and eastern parts of the UK will become confined to the rather chilly North Sea coast by noon. Sunshine, already over remaining areas of the UK, will follow but showers will develop in central southern and south-western England, these locally thundery later.

Tonight (Wednesday night): Southern England will have showery rain overnight, heavy and thundery for a time, especially in the south-west. The far south of Wales will have outbreaks of rain later. Northern Ireland will be dry and mainly clear. Elsewhere, it will be mostly dry, but low cloud will also become quite widespread.

UK Outlook (Thursday and Friday): On Thursday, southern England, south Wales and the south Midlands will have showery rain, some bursts locally heavy. Elsewhere, sunny spells will develop although North Sea coastal counties will remain cool and cloudy. Showers or rain across the UK on Friday, some heavy in central and southern areas.
