MeteoGroup Expand Exciting Relationship with Double BTCC Champions
MeteoGroup, Europe’s largest private weather company, are developing their collaboration with VX Racing, the reigning British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Driver and Manufacturer Champions.
The deal was secured by Triple Eight Race engineering (888), the Oxfordshire-based organisation responsible for Vauxhall’s motorsport operations and the team behind Vauxhall’s domination of the BTCC in recent years. Vauxhall have secured the coveted Manufacturer title in six of the last seven years, whilst driver Fabrizio Giovanardi was the fifth man to win the driver title for VX Racing this year.
MeteoGroup have already worked with VX Racing to provide the team with weather reports for BTCC races, but the 2008 partnership will expand and see MeteoGroup supply VX Racing with detailed forecasts for all the UK BTCC race circuits, as well as the European circuits where VX Racing will be racing and testing.
MeteoGroup’s dedicated technology will provide VX Racing with valuable bespoke weather forecasts, including predicted rainfall, air and track temperature as well as wind speed and direction information for race weekends. Reliable and accurate data for these variables is crucial to the team, and assists VX Racing’s engineers in making critical decisions regarding the cars’ set-up and race tactics.
