Interactive weather tool for television launched
MeteoGroup has today launched a revolutionary new tool for televised weather presentation, showing real-time weather live across the globe.
Called MeteoEarth, www.meteoearth.com, the product uses the latest in touch-screen technology enabling users to rotate the earth or zoom in and out with a simple touch. Designed for usability and control MeteoEarth intuitively reacts at the touch of a presenter’s fingertip.
Dynamic 3D graphics, designed and implemented by MeteoGroup, are used to cover a terrain view of the earth and are fully customisable. Weather phenomena can be highlighted by drawing directly on the screen and weather elements can be chosen beforehand and added on-screen as the presenter moves between different weather events.
Features of the weather presentation tool include, satellite animations, radar images and atmospheric pressure graphics. A broad selection of weather data can be visualised using MeteoEarth.
Data to power the system can come from any source and the product can be used simply as an addition to the forecasting system currently in use.
Jennie Campbell, Managing Director of MeteoGroup said: “We believe that the launch of MeteoEarth offers a real breakthrough in televised weather presentation.
“By doing away with the need for rendering, weather information can be presented in real-time. MeteoEarth’s visual impact is enhanced by interactivity and has great potential for use online.
“With MeteoEarth, the world’s weather is literally at your fingertips.”
