MeteoGroup UK has a portfolio of long range forecast products which give our clients vital clues to the likely conditions from one week to six months ahead. We can provide site or region specific information with market leading levels of accuracy and with proven results.
Our leading European weather prediction model runs out once a week for 28 days ahead. A further extension for three months is computed once a month. We provide best-guess and probabilistic forecasts based on these models for locations around the world.
A vastly experienced meteorologist and climatologist produces a month ahead forecast which is updated every two weeks and focuses on key regions and cites across the UK and Europe. This method incorporates analogue Meteorology, comparing past weather patterns with present weather patterns. This method has proved highly successful in seasonal forecasting.
MeteoGroup UK also market a web based offering from World Climate Services and Penn State University in the USA. Producing global information, the site visualizes probabilistic forecasts of temperature and precipitation looking as far as 6 months ahead.
Our forecasters also produce independent assessments of the forecast beyond 10 days using all available information, including weather prediction models developed in Eastern Europe and North America. Please contact us for more information.
One of the UK's leading climatologists, Philip Eden uses his extensive database and weather library to match recent weather patterns to historic ones. These 'analogues' are combined with latest numeric model predictions (including ensembles), recent sea-surface temperature distribution and extent of sea/land ice cover to predict the general weather pattern for the coming 30 days.
Two types of monthly forecasts are available, a UK and European version. The UK forecast provides a textual overview, regional temperature, rainfall and sunshine predictions, city forecasts and extensive background information, including confidence, analysis of the relevant analogue years and probability tables. The forecast is issued on the last day of each month and updated on the 15th of each month. A monthly review is also issued at the month's end.
The European Outlook includes forecast details for France, Benelux, Germany, the Alps, Scandinavia and Iberia. Statistical analysis for temperature and rainfall is provided for a variety of key European cities. A discussion on confidence levels and details background analysis to the forecast are also made available. Like the UK version, the forecast is issued on the last day of each month, updated on the 15th and also includes a monthly summary.
