RailCast is a specialist forecasting service from MeteoGroup UK, enabling track operators to manage and minimise the effects of adverse weather on the rail infrastructure. With information provided via a password-protected web page, telephone, email or facsimile, RailCast includes a comprehensive range of fully supported seasonal forecast services.  Our specialist forecast team provide forecasts for a range of rail-specific hazards 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Services include:

• Third/conductor rail frost forecasts
• Line icing forecasts for overhead power lines
• Summer ‘hot’ running rail forecasts
• Site or area specific high wind forecasts alerts
• Dedicated infrastructure and network specific precipitation (rain and snow) forecasts
• Leaf fall forecasts
• Platform forecasts for frost, ice and snowfall
• Long range ensemble forecasts

Alerts to advise of client-specific adverse weather conditions can also be issued by SMS and email.

From two to five day outlooks, 24 hour detailed text, and preliminary forecast to site specific graphs of hourly predictions of rail track surface, overhead line, dew point and air temperatures, rail / line surface state, precipitation type and cloud cover.

Site graphs are produced by our unique rail forecast model.

We are available at anytime day or night to give meteorological input to the decision making process or simply discuss the latest forecast or weather conditions.
